Join Us for the 2025 Advisory Board Field Trip: Exploring Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs)

We hope you can join us on Thursday, August 21 for an engaging outing focused on Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs), a crucial topic as MWRA prepares to submit its updated Long-Term CSO Control Plan. The program will feature a guided boat tour along the Charles River, followed by a visit to MWRA’s Prison Point CSO Facility.

In addition to touring these vital facilities, the boat tour will highlight significant CSO project sites along the river, providing a hands-on look at this important infrastructure.

Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP early! Priority will be given to Advisory Board members.

Itinerary

The day will begin with a guided boat tour along the Charles River, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn about significant CSO project sites. Following the boat tour, there will be a visit to MWRA’s Prison Point CSO Facility.

Lunch will be held at North Point Park, providing a chance for both groups to connect and discuss the day’s activities.

Important Information

  • Location for Boarding: Back of the CambridgeSide Mall, Cambridge.
    Details to follow on exact meeting point.

  • Walking Distance: There is about a half-mile walk from Prison Point to the CambridgeSide Mall. Please indicate when signing up if you’ll need assistance with this walk.

  • What to bring: Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a hat for the boat tour.

  • Transportation: Participants must provide their own transportation. Public transportation is a convenient option.
    Please note that parking may be extremely limited, and designated parking is not guaranteed. Details to follow on parking options and meeting locations, but we encourage attendees to carpool or use public transportation.
