December Wastewater Advisory Committee Meeting

MWRA Friends of the Wastewater Advisory Committee:

You are invited to join WAC Friday, Dec. 2 for a presentation by Charlie Jewell of Boston Water & Sewer Commission (BWSC) on how the Commission thinks about green infrastructure installations–where to place them, how they work to clean water & prevent flooding–and he is willing to answer your technical questions, too!

BWSC has a stormwater permit that pre-dates what many municipalities were just issued. The permit requires Boston to remove phosphorus from stormwater streams that go to freshwater outfalls, which much of the Charles, Neponset and Mystic communities are now also required to do. The Commission has experience with various Green Infrastructure installations and can answer questions about their benefits and drawbacks.

Where: DEP’s offices at One Winter Street (corner of Summer) in Downtown Crossing

When: Dec. 2, 10:30-12:30

How: Come up the escalator at 1 Winter Street to the 2nd floor and check in with Reception. After checking in, turn right and walk down to conference Room A.

The meeting is public, which means you can bring a friend.
