Sharing What Matters Most: The Next Chapter
The primary role of the MWRA Advisory Board is to support our communities. We do this by advocating for rates that are both reasonable and responsible, recommending changes to the MWRA’s policies and operating procedures, and identifying and developing resources to help communities meet the water and wastewater challenges ahead.
That said, all the best advocacy, information, and resources in the world won’t do our communities any good if we can’t get it to them in ways that are easy to access, easy to understand, and easy to act on. One of our primary goals over the years has been to communicate the critical work we do, as well as the work the MWRA does that impacts our communities. From paper packets to digital newsletters, to tweets and blog posts, we’ve evolved our communication strategies over time to keep up with the changing ways people engage with information.
Now, we’ve taken the time to carefully plan the relaunch of our social media activity and strategy, holding off until we had new and relevant content to highlight. And now it’s here.
Introducing ABTV: Our New Podcast Series
You may have heard that we’re launching ABTV, our new podcast series! This marks a big step forward in our strategy to get information out to our communities and our ratepayers. Podcasts are an increasingly popular way to reach people where they are, and ABTV will bring in-depth discussions, interviews, and updates on critical issues in water and wastewater management straight to you.
Each episode will cover essential topics related to the MWRA Advisory Board’s work, like infrastructure projects, environmental policies, and water management strategies. You can also expect interviews with MWRA experts and industry leaders on key initiatives, including the Moakley Park Climate Resiliency Project and the Lead Service Line Replacement Project. (In case you missed it, you can read more about the ABTV podcast launch in our blog post here.)
You’ll be able to catch ABTV on popular platforms like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube, and find all episodes on our website complete with show notes.
Unveiling “From the Vault” Articles and Deep Dives on Substack
We’ve recently joined Substack, an increasingly popular platform for sharing in-depth articles directly with readers. Substack combines the convenience of a blog and a newsletter, making it easy for you to subscribe and receive long-form content in your inbox. It’s a perfect fit for the MWRA Advisory Board, where we frequently dive deep into complex topics related to water and wastewater management.
Beyond the new long-form articles we’ll be posting on current topics or breaking news, we’re also introducing our “From the Vault” series. This series will feature old blog posts and long-form stories that remain relevant today, offering valuable insights into issues that continue to impact our communities. Additionally, “From the Vault” will include some throwback articles, providing a historical perspective on how far we’ve come in addressing critical water and wastewater challenges.
For those of you familiar with Substack as a platform typically used for paid content, don’t worry—the Advisory Board’s Substack is completely free and open to the public. Just subscribe, and you’ll receive our latest posts and insights directly to your inbox at no cost.
To ensure you never miss an update, we’re continuing to post regularly on all of our existing social media platforms—each with its own strengths:
