It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of John Carroll.
John had been a vital member of the MWRA Board of Directors since its creation in 1985 and played a crucial role in every major decision that has led to the success of the Boston Harbor cleanup and the avoidance of filtration. He was always a strong voice and advocate for ratepayers, ensuring their interests were well-represented.
Due to John’s exceptional efforts and dedication, his fellow Board members named the water treatment plant after him, which stands as a testament to his lifelong dedication to public service and his instrumental role in shaping the MWRA into the outstanding organization it is today.
For those of us who had the privilege of working with him, we remember him for his endless trove of stories and his unwavering commitment to his family. John will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time. Please join us in honoring John’s memory and keeping his family in your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Advisory Board Staff
